Join Art Gene on Saturday 10th February for this one day social history event the concludes four years of work focused on the rich heritage of Barrow. Come along to hear from Helen Houston, Susan Benson, Liz Critchley and local historians Gill Jepson, Jane Mcsorley and Peter Laird.

The social history event will take place within the art Gene Gallery surrounded by Art Works Created by artists in response to Duke Street, with a selection of historical artefacts that help tell the story of Barrow’s commercial hub and its development over 160 years.

The historic heart of Barrow’s conservation area is a designated a High Street Heritage Action Zone by Historic England, leading to capital works and conservation grants. A rich cultural programme, led by Art Gene, was delivered with partners Full of Noises, Signal Film and Media and Theatre Factory.
