Saturday 24th – Sunday 25th August 2019
Over the bank holiday weekend our patience was rewarded when the sun eventually came out for Barra Night Life!
Adventurous families camped overnight in the meadow, whilst Maddi and Charlie served up healthy vegetarian food (and sausages for breakfast). Historian Iain McNicol helped us to understand the history, uses and myths surrounding plants in the allotment and told surprising stories around the campfire. Art Gene ecologist Eve Mulholland led us on bat walks into the darkness and trapped moths in order to help us understand more about the diversity of night flying insects on Walney Island. Artist in residence Hannah Brackston created an illuminated night garden art installation for us to explore when the sun went down, which highlighted woodland plants in new and bewitching ways.
We’d like to say thank you to everyone who came and made this such a special event. We hope to see you all again next year!
