Don’t forget to book your place on our upcoming event at
Cavendish Dock in Barrow this Sunday 10th February!
Explore the natural & industrial spaces around Cavendish Dock on short guided walk with wildlife specialist Pete Burton who will be discussing the flora and fauna of the area. They’ll also be short talks from Susan Benson from Cumbria Libraries and Archives on the history of ships and sea planes, John Osbourne from Natural England and Furness Railway expert Geoff Holme. We’ll also discuss the important features of these sites & their potential futures along the way.
On arrival at the event there’ll be the opportunity to learn more about the local history of the dock with a talk from Matt Sanderson, and writer Kate Davis will be sharing her poetry along with other speakers. Everyone can share their views, eat free hot home cooked food by our chef Mari Ryan, share ideas and memories, identify the challenges and propose solutions. You’ll also be able to view artworks by artists-in-residence Louise Adkins and Clara Casian.
You will be invited to ‘get on your soapbox’ and speak for 60 seconds from the Extreme Views soapbox tower (and contribute written views anonymously) about your feelings and vision for the future of our area.
