MAILING LIST
In June we had to ensure that our mailing list subscribers were happy to continue receiving newsletters due to the new data protection laws. We asked people to OPT IN by re-signing up to our mailing list. Some of you did, which is fabulous, but we lost a few of you too. We believe this may be due to understanding what is required. We cannot contact you in the future with our newsletter and opportunities unless YOU re-enter your details for our mailing list. At Art Gene we only use your details to send you information about our activities. Please support us by doing so NOW. You can click here to go to our form or you can email norman.wild@art-gene.co.uk

ARTISTS’ RESIDENCY DEADLINES HAVE BEEN EXTENDED
FRIDAY 10th AUGUST 2018
Please feel free to share this opportunity with your networks!
Art Gene are pleased to offer two great opportunities for experienced and enthusiastic visual artists for the Extreme Views Project 2018. The right people will have an understanding of working with communities and socially engaged arts with a practice that spans exhibiting to project work in the environment.
The Extreme Views artist-in-residence and Extreme Views Digital artist-in-residence are both opportunities for an artist or collective to work in residence from the studios at Art Gene, Barrow-in-Furness. The artists’ roles will be to act as an instigator in the Extreme Views Think Tank processes and Extreme Views Tower events. Ideally the artists will be aware of global community environmental politics and the processes that affect change. Their work will entail public artistic interventions as well.
We have extended the deadline.
Deadline 6pm Friday 10th August 2018

MOUNTAINS & MOLEHILLS
The Landscape Working Party offers opportunities for locals to discover and understand our diverse local environment, learn new skills and meet others. It also provides the chance to get involved in propagating and distributing local wildflower species throughout the Borough: creating green corridors throughout the town for both people and wildlife to enjoy.
Get involved! Coming up this summer we have a series of events:
MOUNTAINS & MOLEHILLS: Sunday 12th August2pm-4pm
Ormsgill Lane, Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, LA14 5UY
Led by Eve Mulholland and experts in history and the natural environment. Explore the views and unusual ecology of Barrow’s artificial mountain. A legacy of what was once the largest ironworks in the world.
WALNEY FIELD STUDY: Sunday 19th August11am-5pm
Walney Community Growing Space, Mill Lane, Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, LA14 3XX
Bring your binoculars and pack your magnifying glasses! Learn about and help us record all of the different wild things that live and grow on the field.
