Join Art Gene and Lost Shops Artist in Residence Sarah Hardacre on Wednesday 18th October 11am-4pm, where she will be inviting you to share your memories and photos of Barrow’s historic Duke Street at our memory stall.

Sarah is Artist in Residence for Re:discover Barrow Lost Shops. The project focuses on the historic vein of Duke Street and the surrounding areas, informed by research from a variety of consultants, historians and the local community. Building on the our previous memory stall, Sarah will draw on these sessions to create new visual artworks that be exhibited in Duke Street during winter 2023.

This commission forms part of a four-year programme of cultural events on Duke Street, in partnership with Barrow Borough Council, Barrow’s Cultural Consortium and the funders, led by Historic England. The programme is supported and managed by Art Gene, the cultural lead for the programme.

Historical and creative films about Duke Street, a theatre performance, and a creative museum/art installation are popular artworks already created by local arts companies Signal Film and Media, Art Gene, Theatre Factory and Full of Noises.
