Tell us what you feel about your place and how to make it event better…

The Extreme Views Exhibition brings together recent works created throughout Art Gene’s Extreme Views programme in collaboration with resident practitioners exploring discursive provocations in the landscape.

New work was specially commissioned for Extreme Views from three artists: Louise Adkins, Clara-Maria Casian & Dr David Haley

Also exhibiting are Maddi Nicholson, Stuart Bastik, Hannah Brackston, Rachel Capovila, Charlie MacKeith, Di McGhee & Sophie Lindsey.

Art Gene’s Extreme Views programme, in partnership with the Islands and Bays of Barrow and Furness Coastal Community Team, links communities with landscape. This exhibition presents new work, as well as artwork and installations created for outdoor public Extreme Views events.  In this exhibition, artists examine our relationship to place, and design structures which prompt engagement and dialogue.

The evening exhibition launch of Extreme Views in the Nan Tait Centre was opened by Cllr Bill McEwan, Mayor of Barrow with opening words by Jane Beardsworth, Senior Manager North, Arts Council England.

Throughout the exhibition visitors were encouraged to add their Extreme Views views onto specially designed cards and goggles, and add them to the wall, helping to build a picture of how locals and non-locals feel about this place, and how to make it even better.
