Join Back On Our Map for a series of eight FREE activities and learn more about nature and wildlife. Attend three or more sessions and receive a John Muir award certificate. No experience necessary. Lots of fun for all the family. Ages 5 + must be accompanied by an adult. All sessions begin 11am and finish at 1pm.

Friday 28th July – Nature Discovery Day – Lend a hand and help us complete a Bioblitz of the site. Learn more about different plants, insects and birds that call Allotment Soup their home.

Wednesday 2nd August – Flutter By – Join this Butterfly themed event and help the BOOM team pot on cowslips to support the rare Duke of Burgundy butterfly and create your own butterfly mask.

Thursday 11th August – Grow Your Own Greens – Use upcycled materials to make your own windowsill salad leaf box.

Wednesday 16th August – Square Root – Learn how the BOOM team use square transects to survey different plants and butterflies that can be found on Barrow Slag Banks.

Saturday 19th August – Awesome Aspen – Help the BOOM team with locally rare Aspen trees and create your own leaf character artwork

Wednesday 23rd August – Bug B&B’s – Make a mini beast hotel to take home and discover bugs and beasts on the Allotment Soup site.

Wednesday 30th August – Wonderful Watercolours – Get creative and join a botanical watercolour lesson and learn more about rare local plant species.

Friday 1st September – Let’s Celebrate! – Final event and opportunity to receive your John Muir certificate. Refreshments provided.
