I am an artist living and working in Manchester. I draw, paint, take photographs and make videos in response to varied, often random stimuli. I like to keep things open-ended; uncertainty is key to both the process of making and to the finished work.

I frequently collaborate with fellow artist Nick Jordan, together with whom I have exhibited widely, made numerous films, published a book and undertaken commissions and residencies. We were commissioned by Art Gene to work on the Seldom Seen Series of Maps.

Our work with Art Gene came about from a shared interest in exploring and documenting unusual/marginal places. In particular places where human activity intersects closely with nature. We were commissioned to film specific locations around Morecambe Bay and interview and record people with a deep knowledge, understanding and affinity to each location.

What was particularly special about this process was the highly collaborative nature of the undertaking. Working together with a wide range of individuals with very different specialisms and ways of communicating their knowledge gave us fantastic material to work with. It was hard work but a lot of fun and we got to explore some fascinating places and meet some great people.
