Elaine’s work is informed by a longstanding interest in public art and the politics of place. Since 2005, she has co-run In Certain Places – a public art commissioning and research project in Preston, Lancashire. This has involved working with artists, architects, local authority planners and other individuals with a stake in the city to help inform its future. Elaine has written about public art for various books and journals and is a research fellow in the School of Art, Design and Fashion at the University of Central Lancashire.

“I have a particular interest in interdisciplinary working and am inspired by Art Gene’s collaborative approach, through which the experience, knowledge and skills of many different people contribute to an alternative model of regeneration, which is rooted in the cultural, social and ecological specificities of Barrow”.
