Art Gene’s 2019 Summer Programme
Art Gene’s Summer programme invites you to further explore the natural and industrial spaces around Barrow and Furness, immerse yourself in this nationally significant location for nature and join us in conversation and learning about your area. Extreme Views Pt. 2 offers you the opportunity to join us for shared walks, free food and the chance to hear from locals and experts about the important features of this place and it’s potential futures, all set against ‘extreme’ views of the coastal landscape. There is also the chance to join in with free family nature activities and regular community work days on our Allotment Soup site, the Isle of Walney Community Growing Space. Join us in conversation and exploration, and to contribute your views, to the unique heritage and future of this place.
Extreme Views Pt. 2
Duddon Estuary Guided Walk
9am – 2pm Sunday 7 July
Tell us about your vision for the future of our area
Art Gene’s programme of outdoor events continues on Sunday 7th July with a Guided Walk across Duddon Estuary, with Askam Naturalist and local expert Pete Burton, and will raise funds for voluntary Askam organisation Duddon Inshore Rescue. After the walk Art Gene will host a picnic on the beach, serving free hot food outdoors in front of ‘Extreme’ views across Duddon Estuary, and invite you into a conversation about the future of our area.

This promises to be a special event crossing the Estuary including a wade through water, a full change of clothes and weather appropriate clothing. You will receive full information upon booking.

An immersive camp out on our Allotment Soup site on Walney Island with wildlife events including a night garden, outdoor cooking, wildflower planting, a bat walk and moth trapping.
